Transceiver Module Compatability

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if optical transceivers are interchangeable between communication standards?  IE, can I use any QSFP to MPO transceiver for infiniband or does it need to be designed for infiniband?  How does this work with VPI equipment?  Do I need different transceivers for the two standards (ethernet vs infiniband)?

I'm looking at some finisar 40gb ethernet transceivers and want to ensure they will work prior to spending the money.
