ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH JUNIPER SWITCHES & MELLANOX ETHERNET CONNECTIVITY?

I would like to use the SX1012 as a backplane switch to interconnect (6) servers and a few Juniper EX Family switches.

The layout is very simple. Most of the switches and servers are within 2 meters of the SX1012. There are also (2) servers and a switch within 100 meters of the SX1012 and would be connected via SM Fiber capable of 100GB.

CURRENT SCENARIO- Not Utilizing SX1012

I have numerous Juniper EX3300 switches which are currently using 10GB Twinax connectors in the upload slots. The 10GB is utilizing the Virtual Chassis, and also connected via SM fiber to the remote switch at 10GB.

I would like to connect the Juniper Switches into the SX1012 with the Mellanox 4x10GB splitter cable. Some say this is possible, some say not. I can upgrade to a 40GB Juniper EX4300 which offers a combination of 10GB & 40GB Uplinks. If the SX1012 can connect to the 40GB Uplink on the Juniper EX4300, then I can connect the additional EX3300 via the 10GB interfaces on the Juniper EX4300.

The Nearside Servers would be connected via Mellanox Twinax cables directly at 56GB using the Dual ConnectX-3 Pro 10/40/56GbE adapter cards. The two remote Servers would each utilize a pair of strands of the SM fiber to directly connect to the SX1012 (I am assuming there is a Mellanox GBIC for this). The remote servers would also use the same interface cards.

The information to connect Mellanox technology to current switch families seems to be sorely lacking. I also receive conflicting information from Mellanox technical personnel. So I am hoping someone has already attempted what I would like to do and has some feedback on how to do it correctly the first time.

Any ideas are welcome. I would be open to adding a second SX1012 in the remote building and using a few pairs to increase bandwidth between the buildings. But if the Mellanox Switches can't readily connect to existing switch technology then it doesn't make sense to bring it into the business.

Thanks!
