If the hosts are using 2K mtu there is no harm of 4k mtu on the links between the switches.

Actually we have the opposite, our hosts come up as 4k mtu but the inter-switch links are 2k mtu.If we set the infiniscale switch ports to 2k mtu, we hope the attached hosts will negotiation at 2k mtu.
