I am setting up an ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) on my Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS server for monitoring, including SNMPv3 & V2c. This server will monitor roughly 200 6036 switches.
I am able to poll the devices, but the only data I'm finding regarding transfer rates are all counters, which are difficult to derive transfer rates from, as you have to calculate the change in the counter and divide that by your polling rate. This assumes a fixed polling rate, which is not always the case. I see there are gauges such as ifHighSpeed, however they do not reflect legitimate values (most ifHighSpeed gauges are set to 56000). Is there a way to enable these gauges to produce valuable transfer speed data?
